The NorCalWTC Seeks To Expand Citizen Diplomacy &
 Hosting Opportunities in 2010

The Northern California World Trade Center (NorCalWTC) is proud to announce some new changes and fresh ideas that will be implemented as the organization moves into 2010.  Building on the successful reorganization of the Northern California World Trade Center that took place in 2009 and coupling that success with important lessons learned from Network DC (the prestigious grant won by the NorCAlWTC this year), and other Centers of International Visitors best practices, the NorCalWTC plans to expand the number of opportunities for regional volunteers to meet and host international dignitaries and delegations.  This shift will not only present a greater number of volunteer opportunities to our local community, but will strengthen and grow the NorCalWTC’s ability to plan high-level programs, rich with professional, cultural and personal connections for the visiting international delegations.

Over the past two years the NorCalWTC hosted 55 different delegations and 381 international visitors who came to our region to learn about everything from our regions clean energy technology sector to court administration.

In 2010, interested parties may get involved in this unique volunteer activity by ensuring they are a member of NorCalWTC, at the partner level or greater, and by applying and being selected from the growing list of applicants.  Both strategic partners as well as Founder member levels, may be invited to join regularly standing programming calls in an effort to strategically meet all programming goals and provide the highest level quality of programming possible.

Additionally, to achieve this new structure, the NorCalWTC is shifting from a standing rigid committee structure, to one that is more flexible.  This shift will provide greater efficiency, effectiveness and expand the opportunities for all interested in getting involved.  To meet our expected needs in 2010, the NorCalWTC is actively recruiting no less than a dozen volunteer leaders to engage in this process.

“The NorCalWTC is extraordinarily fortunate to be able to offer this unique opportunity to our members to interact with particularly important international dignitaries.  The International Visitor Leadership Program is an incredibly important opportunity to both showcase our regional success and assets as well as develop relationships around the globe.  Anyone who does business internationally or is simply proud of the work they and the region do should apply for this opportunity as it is a once in life time opportunity to meet with potentially tomorrow’s world leaders” stated Michael Faust , President and CEO.
